NetWorker 19.7 Snapshot Management Integration Guide

PDF

Starting the nsrpsd process

In NetWorker, the nsrpsd process on the application host starts on demand by NetWorker processes, such as nsrsnap. After 30 minutes of inactivity, the nsrpsd process terminates. To prevent nsrpsd from terminating, create the file nsrpsd_stay_up in the nsr/res directory.

If you use a version of NMDA or NMSAP on the application host, then the nsrpsd process does not automatically start or stop and backups of these applications will fail. You must start or stop the nsrpsd process manually, as done in previous PowerSnap releases. In these environments, nsrpsd will not terminate after 30 minutes of inactivity.
