OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware vCenter Version 1.1 User's Guide

Manage host devices

Manage option is provided only for compliant and noncompliant hosts.

The manage job triggers SNMP Trap configuration for noncompliant host status. In addition, it adds the host device to the MEL list and associates the server with an OMEVV created group in OpenManage Enterprise. This group corresponds to the vCenter container to which this host belongs in vCenter. Upon managing the job, it lists hosts on the host page. For more information, see hosts.

  1. On the OMEVV home page, click Compliance & Deployment > Compliance > Management Compliance.
  2. Select one or more hosts and click Manage.
  3. Click OK.
  4. To see all the managed hosts, go to Hosts > Hosts.

If the device fails with SNMP Trap configuration, it returns with the state as Managed without alerts. Displays the state of the host on Management Compliance. To fix the compliance of this device, see Fix Compliance on one or more hosts. To know more on how to unmanage hosts, see Unmanage hosts and to see the status of the manage job, see Logs.

NOTE When OMEVV is registered with multiple vCenters and if the user adds the host which is already part of a vCenter to another vCenter, and then ensure that host is removed from the previous vCenter.
