Upgrade the OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware vCenter Plugin

Prerequisites

Ensure to take the snapshot of the OpenManage Enterprise appliance before proceeding with the upgrade.

About this task

OMEVV plugin upgrade can be performed in two ways:
  • Upgrading the plugin through Dell online.
  • Upgrading the plugin through custom share (http/https/NFS) site.
NOTE When OpenManage Enterprise upgrades to version 3.10, OMEVV is disabled and is in non-compatible mode. OMEVV is available only after upgrading OMEVV to version 1.1.
NOTE To enable debug logging, OMEVV service will not be available at Text User Interface of OpenManage Enterprise 3.9.2. OMEVV services resumes user upgrades OpenManage Enterprise to version 3.10.

Steps

  1. To perform upgrade through Dell online, click Application Settings > Console and Plugins.
    The Console and Plugins page is displayed.
  2. Click Upgrade option and follow the further upgrade steps on prompt.
  3. To perform upgrade through local share, download, extract the upgrade package, and save the file http share in the following hierarchy.
    • archives
    • plugins_catalog.json
    • plugins_catalog.json.asc
    Follow step 1 and step 2 after sharing the URL to the custom site.

Next steps

Post upgrade, user can observe that,
  • All the hosts management state remains same as before.
  • All the jobs scheduled in prior version will continue to run on the scheduled time.
  • All data from the older appliance will be retained.
