Decrypting a Dell Data Protected Drive Without Uninstalling Dell Data Protection Personal Edition

Users may want to remove encryption from the computer for various reasons. Should the user want to decrypt a drive without uninstalling the Dell Data Protection software, this guide demonstrates how to remove the software for Windows 7, 8.1, and 10.

How to Remove Encryption in Windows:

  1. Launch the Dell Data Protection | Encryption software.

    Windows 10

    1. Go to the Start icon on the task bar.
      Click Start Icon
    2. Go to All Apps.
      Click All apps
    3. Go to Dell.
      Click Dell
    4. Go to Dell Data Protection Encryption.
      Click DDP Encryption

    Windows 8.1

    1. Go to the Start Icon.
      Click Start Icon
    2. Select the arrow to see the Applications.
      Select Arrow
    3. Go to the Dell folder and select Dell Data Protection | Encryption.
      Click DDP Encryption

    Windows 7

    1. Go to the Start Icon.
      Click Start Icon
    2. Go to All Programs.
      Click All Programs
    3. Go to Dell.
      Click Dell
    4. Go to Dell Data Protection | Encryption.
      Click DDP Encryption
  2. Select advanced in the bottom-right corner.
    Click advanced
  3. Choose Default Settings.
    Click Default Settings
  4. Enter the Encryption Administrator Password that is created upon setup of the Dell Data Protection software.

  5. Under Select a Template, use the scroll options to go to the option for Encryption Disabled and then select save.
    Select Encryption Disabled and click save
  6. Select the option to go home in the bottom-right corner.
    Click home
  7. The decryption process begins.
