Symptoms

Alienware x16 R2 laptops with Killer 1750x Wi-Fi modules may not recognize the microphone on any Bluetooth Headset. The earphones of the Bluetooth headset function without issue, only the microphone function of the headset is affected.

Affected Platform:

  • Alienware x16 R2

Affected BIOS Versions:

  • 1.1.0
  • 1.2.0
Note: The internal Array Microphone works without issue.
Note: Headsets with a Radio Frequency (RF) dongle are unaffected by this issue.

Cause

The Bluetooth signal setting is incorrect causing the Headset Microphone not to function.

Resolution

Note: Before starting the update, perform the following:
  • Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery.
  • Connect the AC adapter.

Updating the BIOS to version 1.3.1 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide.
