Verify the 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel NIC connectivity

Follow the steps in this procedure to verify whether the 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel NIC connectivity is established.

On the node on which the 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel NIC is installed, perform the following steps:

  1. Verify that the 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel NIC cards are available:
    # ls /dev/ocs*

The output should show ocs0 and ocs1.

  2. Verify that the cluster Fibre Channel connectivity and zoning are accurate by matching the Fibre Channel WWPNs output displayed with the WWPNs displayed in the DMA user interface:
    # isi fc settings ls
In the following sample output, the WWPNs should match the ones displayed in the DMA:
Port WWNN WWPN State Topology Rate

  3. Detect NDMP backup devices:
    # isi tape rescan --reconcile

A sample output of the previous command is shown:

  4. Verify that zoned devices are visible and accessible, and that the NICs in the same zone have multiple paths. The following is an example of the command on tape04:
    isi tape view tape041

The output is similar to the following:

    Name: tape041
          State: closed
           WWNN: 2000002188009183
    Vendor/Model/Revision: <IBM ULTRUYN-TD3 8711>

         Portid: A81700
      OpenCount: 0
        DevName: sa89

NDMP backup and restore operations are enabled by using the 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel NIC.
