Removing the dummy SIM-card slot filler

CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the nanoSIM card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
  4. Remove the battery.
  5. Remove the memory module.
  6. Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive.
  7. Remove the wireless card.
  8. Remove the WWAN card.
  9. Remove the fan.
  10. Remove the heat sink.
  11. Remove the speakers.
  12. Remove the assembly inner frame.
  13. Remove the display assembly.
  14. Remove the system board.
  15. Install the power-button board.
  16. Remove the keyboard.
  17. Remove the palm-rest assembly.

About this task

NOTE:For models shipped with WLAN antennas only, the dummy SIM-card slot filler is a separate service part and is not included with replacement palm rest. As a result, the dummy SIM-card slot filler must be removed and then reinstalled when replacing the palm-rest assembly.

Steps

Using a plastic scribe, push the dummy SIM-card slot filler outwards to remove it from the palm-rest assembly.
