HCI mesh requirements

VMware vSAN storage that is shared in HCI mesh must use the same architecture for all the participating VxRail clusters. You cannot mix VMware vSAN data store types in a VMware vSAN HCI mesh.​

For VxRail clusters running 8.0.100 or later, support is extended to VxRail vSAN stretched clusters. The following restrictions apply for VMware vSAN HCI mesh supporting stretched clusters:

• The VMware vSAN HCI mesh must be based on VMware vSAN OSA. VxRail vSAN stretched clusters are not supported in a VMware vSAN HCI mesh based on VMware vSAN ESA. ​
• A VxRail vSAN stretched cluster can be either a server or a client in a VMware vSAN HCI mesh.
