Symptoms

FILE_SYSTEMasset fails - Protection policy backup shows as unsuccessful
- Error message:
ABA0001: IHIE Agent - Migrated: Unable to back up the FILE_SYSTEM asset <DIR> on host <client host> to storage target <target device>.
- Domain Name System (DNS) or name resolution issues
- Agent retains an outdated hostname or IP address
- Registration problems between PowerProtect Data Manager and the agent host
Cause
The File Level Agent configuration files are tied to the hostname used during initial installation. After a hostname change, the agent may continue referencing the previous hostname or IP address, causing registration and connectivity failures. Retaining the old configuration folder (such as, DPSAPPS) without a clean reinstall prevents proper hostname discovery and registration.
Resolution
To resolve the hostname configuration issue:
-
Uninstall the Agent
Use Control Panel, command line, or the provided uninstaller to completely remove the existing agent. -
Rename the DPSAPPS Folder
Go toC:\Program Files\DPSAPPSand rename the folder (such as, toDPSAPPS_old) to preserve legacy configuration files for troubleshooting. -
Reinstall the Agent
Run the installer to perform a clean installation. This generates new configuration files based on the current hostname, allowing proper registration with PowerProtect Data Manager.
