Symptoms

A Windows host that is not a NetWorker client is using GST web services.

http://NMChostname:9000/

The user cannot log in to NMC and sees the following message.
There is a problem contacting the server, backupservername . Please verify that the server is running.
 

Cause

NetWorker server JAVA 1.7
Non-NetWorker host JAVA 1.7

Resolution

Upgrade JAVA on the non-NetWorker host used to make the web connection. 

In this case, upgrading JAVA to 1.8 was sufficient.

This could break other Java-enabled applications if they are using older versions of JAVA. 

For example, the VNX Brocade switch user interface.
