NetWorker Unable to upgrade/install NMC package on windows.
Summary: Upgrade of NetWorker server succeeds, but nmc fails to get upgraded and gets uninstalled in the process. On trying to install it separately fails.

Symptoms
- NetWorker server upgrade succeeds, but the NetWorker Management Console (NMC) fails to upgrade.
- NetWorker Management Console fails to complete fresh install with ..\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management folder renamed.
- Error in installation log:
[0DE4:08FC][2020-01-20T21:21:59]i000: nsrd : StartService failed.
Error Code = 1056.

- Issue persists even after trying to remove registry entries for NMC.
Cause
There exists leftovers of old NMC on the machine in form of registry entries.
Resolution
Need to install Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall tool, And use it to remove leftovers of previous NMC installation.

Package name: MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab.
Tag: Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed.
Steps:
1. Run package MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab from server.
2. Click on Fix installation issues.
Here in the list of applications that appear, you should be able to locate NetWorker Management Console.
3. Select NetWorker Management Console and click on fix button.
4. Now, once it succeeds you can verify if it appears again by running the tool.
5. Now you may proceed with installation of Package.

Additional Information
Sometimes, in order to remove the leftovers of NMC, the NetWorker package needs to be uninstalled, in such cases, it is advised to have a copy of res,mm and index taken. So that after reinstalling to same directory , in case the configuration is lost, can be brought back.
At the time of configuring NMC from installation wizard, the path to nmcdb can be selected so that nmcdb is retained.
