Affected Versions:

  • v8.0 and later

Error Message:

This issue is recorded in the CMGshield.logs at:

v8.0 - 8.2: C:\ProgramData\CREDANT\CMGShield.log
v8.3 and later: C:\ProgramData\Dell\Dell Data Protection\Encryption\CMGShield.log

Shield logs:

[12.09.13 07:26:30:736 WinShield.cpp: 762] Shield Service - Failed to load ProcessConnector.dll [MS error = 126]

Resolution

This error is due to an issue with the .net 4.0 version installed on the endpoint.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Uninstall .net 4.0.
  2. Reinstall .net 4.0 or later.
