Symptoms

No Presence Detection Feature in Dell Peripheral Manager

 

You may see Dell Peripheral Manager (DPeM) report that the Presence Detection features are missing. This happens if you connect the Dell UltraSharp webcam (WB7022) directly to the USB port on the Dell UltraSharp Monitor (U3223QE).

Cause

DPeM requires a USB 3.0 connection to enable the Presence Detection features. The direct webcam to monitor connection is using USB 2.0 which is not sufficient to enable this feature.

Resolution

Connect the USB cable on your webcam (WB7022) directly to one of the laptops USB 3.0 ports.
