Symptoms

  • The vProxy appliance fails to upgrade using the nsrvproxy_mgmt utility.
  • The vProxy /opt/emc/vproxy/runtime/logs/vrapid/vrapid-engine.log

Cause

The issue may occur when there the IP address of vProxy Host is assigned to multiple Virtual Machines (VMs). NetWorker vProxy runtime logs dipict dial udp ##.###.##.###:53: connect: network is unreachable. 
 

NetWorker vProxy may not display an IP conflict error. There is a possibility that it appears as either as "failing with unable to determine network interface" or "network is unreachable"RRR.

Resolution

Option 1:

DNS Server Level Troubleshooting

Check the DNS Server for vProxy IP Address and Hostnames to find duplicate hostname for the same IP.
 

Option 2:

Network Level Troubleshooting:

1. Shut down the vProxy_HostA

2. Run following on the NW Server CLI:

ping -a IP_of_vProxy_Host
nslookup IP_of_vProxy_Host
nslookup vProxy_Host

3. Fix the Duplicate IP Conflict and then go to upgrade NetWorker vProxy Appliance.
