Installing the heat sink

Prerequisites

CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

NOTE:Incorrect alignment of the heat sink can damage the system board and processor.
NOTE:If either the system board or the heat sink is replaced, use the thermal pad/paste provided in the kit to ensure that thermal conductivity is achieved.

Steps

  1. Align the screw holes on the heat sink with the screw holes on the system board.
  2. In sequential order (1 > 2 > 3 > 4 ), as indicated by the numbers on the heat sink, tighten the four captive screws to secure the heat sink to the system board.
  3. Replace the tape the secures the eDP cable in place.
