Removing the speakers
Prerequisites
CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SIM card tray (for computers with nano-SIM card option).
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive.
- Remove the WWAN 4G card or WWAN 5G card.
- Remove the WLAN card.
- Remove the fan.
- Remove the system board.
About this task
NOTE:The system board can be removed with the heat sink attached to simplify the procedure and preserve the thermal bond between the system board and heat-sink.
The following images indicate the location of the speakers and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Note the routing of the speaker cable, and remove the speaker cable from the routing guides on the palm-rest assembly.
- Peel off the adhesive tape that secures the speaker cable.
- Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
- Lift the speakers along with the cable off the palm-rest assembly.
