Removing the smart card reader (optional)
Prerequisites
CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SIM card tray.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive.
- Remove the WWAN 4G card or WWAN 5G card.
- Remove the WLAN card.
- Remove the fan.
- Remove the speakers.
About this task
NOTE:For models with smart card reader configuration, the smart card reader is preinstalled in the replacement palm-rest assembly.
The following images indicate the location of the smart card reader and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Open the latch and disconnect the smart card reader cable from the USH board.
- Remove the two screws (M2x2) that secure the smart card reader to the palm-rest assembly.
- Lift the smart card reader off the palm-rest assembly.
