This article describes how to enable the SupportAssist feature on Dell Networking and legacy Force10 S-series switches. The configuration example below covers the necessary command line interface commands to enable and configure SupportAssist.
Overview
Feature Description
SupportAssist is an automation feature which allows supported switches to communicate diagnostics and troubleshooting information directly to Dell, such as:
- Hardware alerts
- System failures
- Changes in link connectivity
SupportAssist is only available on S-series switches operating on firmware version 9.9.0.0 or higher.
SupportAssist requires installation of SmartScripts automation package version 9.7.0.0 or higher on the switch. The SmartScripts automation package can be downloaded from the Dell Networking Force10 support site.
Enable SupportAssist
- Verify that the SmartScripts package is installed.

- Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) to enable SupportAssist.

Additional SupportAssist Commands
- To disable SupportAssist, reject the EULA using the global command eula-consent support-assist reject.
Dell(conf)# eula-consent support-assist reject
I do not accept the terms of the license agreement. The SupportAssist feature has
been deactivated and can no longer be used.
To enable SupportAssist configurations, accept the terms of the license agreement
by configuring this command 'eula-consent support-assist accept'.
SupportAssist configuration is not allowed if the EULA is rejected.
- SupportAssist on S-series switches includes guided prompts to assist you with configuration. Start the SupportAssist wizard using the global command support-assist activate.
Dell(conf)# support-assist activate
This configuration wizard will take you all the basic steps for configuring the
SupportAssist feature. If at any time you wish to exit the wizard, enter control-C.
- The current status of SupportAssist can be shown using show support-assist status.
