Symptoms

ECS node is experiencing an unexpected reboot multiple times, core file got generated upon the reboot. By checking the stack trace in the dmesg log in the /var/crash/, the reboot was due to NMI detected on the CPU.

NMI standards for non-maskable interrupt, which is an interrupt with the highest priority, it occurs to signal attention for non-recoverable hardware errors.

Cause

This could be either an operating system or hardware issue.

Resolution

A reimage might be sufficient. However, it is probably best to physically replace the node in case the issue persists post reimage.
