Installing the expansion card

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
  3. If required, remove the air shroud.

Steps

  1. Rotate to open the PCIe card holder.
  2. If Installed, lift the metal filler bracket from the system.
    NOTE: Store the riser blanks for future use. Filler brackets must be installed in empty expansion card slots to maintain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system.

  3. Holding the edges, align the expansion card with the slot on the system.
  4. Lower the expansion card into the place and press until the expansion card is fully seated on the PCIe slot.
    NOTE: The numbers on the image do not depict the exact steps. The numbers are for representation of sequence.
