Bind licenses

Bind all the unbound licenses (entitlements) to the inventoried systems by using the OpenManage Enterprise to generate deployable licenses.

Prerequisites

  • Discover and inventory the licensable systems.
  • Ensure that the appliance is connected to Dell Online and entitlements are available in your Dell Digital Locker account. See Obtain licenses by connecting to Dell Digital Locker account.
  • Ensure that administrator or device manager access with scope to the device is available.

Steps

  1. On the appliance, click Configuration > Entitlements.
  2. Select the license to be bound and click Bind. Only perpetual licenses are available for binding operation.
The license binding wizard is displayed.
  3. Click Select Devices to see the devices eligible for license deployment. Select the devices and click OK.
Selecting all devices across pages is not supported. However, you can select all devices within each page by clicking This page. The total number of devices you can select is limited by the available license count for the selected licenses.
  4. From the Bind Options, select one of the following and click Finish:
    OptionDescription
Bind Bind the entitlements to device service tags to generate deployable licenses. A Bind Entitlements Task is created on the Jobs page. Once the job is complete, the newly bound licenses are available on the License page for deployment.
Bind and Deploy Bind the licenses to target device service tags and then deploy the licenses on the target devices. A Bind Entitlements and Deploy Licenses task is created on the Jobs page. After successful license deployment, the device inventory is refreshed automatically, and the license is displayed on the License page.
To learn more about the jobs, go to the Monitor > Jobs page, select the task, and then click View Details.
