Import licenses

To import licenses, you must first download them. You can import archived licenses with perpetual term, but expired and evaluation licenses cannot be imported.

Prerequisites

Before importing a license, ensure that it meets the following prerequisites:
  • The license is a valid license with Perpetual term. Licenses with evaluation terms are rejected.
  • The license has a bound service tag.
  • The license has a proper signature and entitlement ID.
  • Ensure you have the administrator access or device manager access to import licenses.

Steps

  1. Click Configuration > Licenses, and then click Import.
  2. Click Import Licenses to upload the license files from your local file system. You can import around 1,000 licenses at a time.
    NOTE:Only XML, ZIP, and TAR formats are accepted.
  3. An import license task job is created where you can track the job progress.

Results

Once the job completes, the license is imported if it meets all the prerequisites. You can find the imported licenses on the License page and on the bound device's Licensing tab. If a license does not meet any prerequisites, it is rejected, and you can find the reason from the import license task from the Jobs page. If a license is bound to a discovered server, it is eligible for deployment.
