Export licenses

Export an archive of some or all licenses on the appliance. This archive can be used as a backup when an appliance is repaired or upgraded and the Dell Licensing Portal is not accessible. Archived licenses can also be used to transfer licenses among appliance installations.

Prerequisites

Ensure that a local fileshare is reachable to the appliance over CIFS, NFS, or HTTPs.

Steps

  1. Click Configuration > Licenses, and then select the licenses to be exported.
  2. Click Export.
  3. Select the target Archive File Format. Available options are ZIP or TAR.
  4. Select the Share Type. Available options are NFS, CIFS, or HTTPS.
  5. Enter the Share Information:
    • Share IP Address: The IP address at which the share is reachable.
    • Share Path: The file path on the server where the exported licenses are saved.
NOTE:No special characters are supported in the Share Path field.
    • Workgroup: The group name tag that identifies devices and their resources in the SMB domain. If Share Type is set to CIFS, this field is required.
    • Username: The username of a user that can write to the CIFS or HTTPS share. If Share Type is set to CIFS or HTTPS, this field is required.
    • Password: The password of a user that can write to the CIFS or HTTPS share. If Share Type is set to CIFS or HTTPS, this field is required.
  6. Click Test Connection to verify that the appliance can reach the share.
  7. Click Export to create the file.
An export license task job is created where you can track the job progress.

Results

An archive of the exported licenses is saved to the fileshare.
