Dell EMC Solutions Enabler 9.2 SRDF Family CLI User Guide

Establish for the SRDF/Metro session

About this task

An establish makes the devices in the SRDF/Metro session RW on the SRDF link and initiates an incremental re-synchronization of data from the MetroR1 to the MetroR2.

Figure 1. Establish for the SRDF/Metro session
Once the establish command completes successfully:
  • the MetroR1 will become or remain accessible to the host
  • while the re-synchronization is ongoing, the Metro state is SyncInProg and copy direction is R1-> R2
  • Once the MetroR1 and MetroR2 contain identical data
    • the MetroR2 will become accessible to the host
    • the Metro state will be ActiveActive
    • the copy direction will be R1<-->R2
When DR mode is async:
  • if the DR state is SyncInProg or Consistent:
    • The MetroR2 to DR SRDF/A session is prepared to enable the DR service state to reach the Active HA service state, meaning that the MetroR2 to DR session can take over if the MetroR1 to DR session is compromised
    • if the DR Link state is online, the DR Service state remains Active
    • if the DR Link state is MetroR2 DR offline, the DR Service state is Degraded
  • if the DR state is Suspended, Split, or Partitioned, the DR Service state remains Inactive
  • If the DR state is TransIdle, the DR Service state remains Degraded
When DR mode is Acp_disk
  • if the DR state is SyncInProg or Synchronized, the DR Service state remains Active
  • if the DR state is Suspended, Split, Partitioned, the DR Service state remains Inactive

Example

The following example shows the result of the symmdr –sid 702 –name metrodr1 establish -metro command on array 702 when the SRDF/Metro state is Suspended, the DR state is Consistent and DR mode is Asynchronous:
symmdr –sid 702 –name metrodr1 establish -metro
