Dell EMC Solutions Enabler 9.2 SRDF Family CLI User Guide

Suspend for the SRDF/Metro session

About this task

A suspend operation makes the devices in the SRDF/Metro session NR on the SRDF link. By default the MetroR1 remains accessible to the host, while the MetroR2 becomes inaccessible to the host. If it is desirable to have the MetroR2 remain accessible to the host while the MetroR1 becomes inaccessible to the host, a -keep R2 option can be specified.

Figure 1. Suspend for the SRDF/Metro session

Once the suspend command completes successfully, the SRDF/Metro state becomes Suspended.

If -keep r1 is specified or no -keep is specified:
  • When the MetroR1 is mapped to the host, the MetroR1 remains accessible to host
  • If the DR Service state was Active HA or Active, the DR Service State is Active
  • If the DR Service state was Degraded, and if the DR Link state was MetroR2 DR Offline, the DR Service State is Active
If -keep r2 is specified:
  • When the MetroR2 is mapped to the host, the MetroR2 remains accessible to the host and becomes the MetroR1, while what was the MetroR1 before becomes inaccessible to the host and then becomes the MetroR2.
  • If the DR Service State was Active HA, the DR Service State is Active
  • If the DR Service State was Active, a –force is required, and the DR Service State is Inactive
  • If the DR Service state was Degraded and the action results in DR being dropped, a –force is required, and the DR Service state is Inactive

Example

The following example shows the result of the symmdr –sid 702 –name metrodr1 suspend –metro –keep R1 command on array 702 when the SRDF/Metro state is ActiveActive, the DR state is Consistent and DR mode is Asynchronous:
symmdr –sid 702 –name metrodr1 suspend –metro –keep R1
