SRDF/Metro Smart DR restrictions and dependencies

The following sections contain general restrictions for SRDF/Metro Smart DR.

  • All three arrays must be running PowerMaxOS 5978.669.669 or higher.
  • All three arrays must be discoverable through Solutions Enabler and must be in the symapi_db.bin.
  • All R1 devices in the SRDF/Metro session must also be R1 devices in an SRDF/A session to the DR array, and all R1 devices in that SRDF/A session must also be R1 devices in the SRDF/Metro session.
  • All R2 devices in the SRDF/Metro session must also be R2 devices in an SRDF/A session to the DR array, and all R1 devices in that SRDF/A session must also be R1 devices in the SRDF/Metro session.
  • The MetroR1, MetroR2, and associated DR devices must be the same size.
  • Devices cannot be:
    • BCV
    • Encapsulated
    • RecoverPoint
    • Data Domain
    • PPRC
    • CKD
    • Part of a STAR configuration
    • Part of a SQAR configuration
    • Enabled for MSC
    • Part of a Data Migration session
  • Expansion of devices (symdev modify) that are part of a Smart DR session is not allowed.
