Dell EMC Solutions Enabler 9.2 SRDF Family CLI User Guide

SRDF/Metro R1 and SRDF/Metro R2 host availability

SRDF/Metro determines the winner side which remains RW accessible to the host if the SRDF link fails, or some other failure occurs (such as one of the storage arrays becoming unavailable). The winner side refers to the device that remains accessible to the host. This side is identified as the R1. The loser side is identified as the R2.

SRDF/Metro has three methods for deciding which side remains accessible following a failure:

  • Device Bias
  • Array Witness
  • Virtual Witness
