Getting started with ThinOS

This chapter helps you to quickly learn the basics and get started with your ThinOS -based thin client. From ThinOS 2205, ThinOS Activation devices license is added in Wyse Management Suite. Devices that are converted from other operating systems must have the ThinOS Activation devices license to enable the VDI function. The license is automatically added when registering to Wyse Management Suite. You cannot log in to any Broker agent from the client without ThinOS Activation devices license. You can add the license to enable PCoIP function on non-PCoIP devices that are converted from ThinOS 8.6 by enabling the Enable PCoIP Activation License option from Services > WDA Settings.

NOTE:Once ThinOS Activation devices licenses are consumed, you cannot restore them anymore. The licenses are permanently applied on the ThinOS clients. ThinOS activation licenses are not cleared when you reset the ThinOS clients to factory default. However, if you recover ThinOS clients using ISO images or merlin images, the licenses are cleared. You must register the devices to the same Wyse Management Suite server that you applied licenses previously, to re-active them. If you register the devices to the same Wyse Management Suite server, the clients can use the same licenses, and they do not consume new licences. For Non-PCoIP ThinOS clients, you must also enable Enable PCoIP Activation Licenseoption in ThinOS 9.x policy to re-active licenses.
