Dell Encryption Personal requires a Windows password to configure encryption
Summary: A Windows password is required, to configure encryption when using Dell Encryption Personal (formerly Dell Data Protection | Personal Edition).

A warning indicating that a Windows password is highly recommended to protect your personal data, when performing the first-time configuration of Dell Encryption Personal:

If there is no Windows password that is associated with the current user, encryption is not configured and the user sees the below message:

The CMGShield.log in C:\ProgramData\Dell\Dell Data Protection\Encryption shows messages similar to these:

Resolution
Add a Windows password to the administrator account that is performing the initial encryption setup and then reboot the computer. Once it has rebooted, complete the setup wizard, and the encryption process begins.
