Symptoms

The Microphone and Internal Speaker disabled no function in the BIOS setup menu. You cannot disable Microphone and Internal Speaker through the BIOS setup menu on Cirrus Logic audio configuration.
Press the "Win" key to trigger the system unmute when the system is in audio mute status. When you play the video by Movie & TV or play music by Groove Music. Press the F1 key to mute the system, then press the Windows key, the sound is resumed, but the volume icon still displays X (audio off) in the right-down corner of the windows desktop.

This is an Audio Driver coding issue.

Note: This is not a hardware issue.
 

Go to check audio codec device ID to identify audio vendor in Device Manager.

Download and update the Audio Driver to the most recent release from Dell e-support to solve this issue.

Steps:

Update the Intel Cirrus Logic High Definition Audio Driver to the most recent release (revision Version 10.0.6.5 or later).

  1. Browse to the Dell Drivers & downloads page:

  2. Select the Operating System that is installed on the Dell computer.

  3. Under Category, select Audio.

  4. Locate the latest Audio Driver.

  5. Click Download and save the file to your computer.

  6. Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved.

  7. Double-click the Download setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

Note: Do not turn off your computer or disconnect from the power source while updating.
