PowerEdge: How to gather a SupportAssist Collection from OpenManage Enterprise Modular

Summary: This article explains how to gather a SupportAssist Collection, formerly called a Tech Support Report (TSR), through OpenManage Enterprise-Modular (OME-M).

Instructions

There are different ways to pull a SupportAssist Collection from OME-M. This article covers each method.

Go to the iDRAC landing page of the target compute node from OME-M to pull a single log.
  1. Select Devices Compute dropdown, and click the Server Name, or the View Details button.
Note: If we click the IP address of the iDRAC, a new tab opens on the browser taking us directly into the iDRAC interface. For the purposes of this tutorial, we are staying in the OME-M interface. See Dell article 126308 Export a SupportAssist collection using iDRAC9 for instructions on pulling the SupportAssist Collection directly from the iDRAC interface.

  1. Select the options for the report. Hardware is the default, but also available for add are:
  • OS and Application Data if the iDRAC Service Module (iSM) is installed within the server operating system. If iSM is not installed, nothing is collected when this option is checked.
  • Storage Logs that export the RAID controller log (TTY) and are especially helpful with storage issue troubleshooting (this option has different labels in different firmware levels, so it may read RAID controller logs also).
  • Debug Logs for more advanced troubleshooting.
  • There is also an option to Filter Data which filters out personally identifiable information like IP addresses and WWN. Selecting this option excludes debug logs, and could hinder troubleshooting efforts if checked.

  1. Click Save to begin the log collection process.
  2. Monitor the progress by going to Monitor and selecting Jobs. Find the correct job and click View Details.
