Removing the disk-drive cage

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the side cover.
  3. Remove the front bezel.
  4. Remove the 2.5-inch hard drive if applicable.
  5. Remove the 3.5-inch hard drive if applicable.

Steps

  1. If the optical drive is installed, remove the data and power cables from the routing points on the disk-drive cage.
  2. Remove the single (6-32) screw to release the disk-drive cage from the chassis..
  3. Lift the disk-drive and detach it from the mounting points on the chassis.
  4. Rotate the drive-cage and place it on the chassis.
  5. If the optical drive is installed, disconnect the power and data cables from the connectors on the optical drive.
  6. Lift the disk-drive cage away from the computer.
