Removing the 3.5-inch hard drive
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the side cover.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the 3.5-inch hard-drive assembly and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Disconnect the data and power cables from the hard drive.
- Remove the two screws (6-32) that secure the hard-drive carrier to the chassis.
- Slide the hard-drive carrier away from the chassis and lift hard-drive carrier out of the disk-drive cage.
- Remove the two screws (6-32) that secure the hard drive to the hard-drive carrier.
- Slide and remove the hard drive from the hard-drive carrier.
