XPS 13 Series Laptop Touchpad Upper Right or Left Corner Not Functioning

Symptoms

The upper right or left corner of the touchpad on the XPS 13 series laptop may not function. The issue is seen when long-press or touch and hold, then move the pointer.

  • XPS 13 7390
  • XPS 13 7390 2-in-1

Cause

XPS engineering has defined a 7 mm x 7 mm area at the upper right or left corner of the touchpad to prevent the false touch when typing the keyboard.

Resolution

Updating to Dell Touchpad Firmware Application version 19.6.6.0 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the Firmware, reference How to Download and Install Dell Drivers.
