No Video on DisplayPort to HDMI Daisy Chained Display from a P2422HE Monitor
Summary: The following article provides information about a no video fault on secondary monitors. The issue is seen when you link through your primary P2422HE monitor using DisplayPort to HDMI.
Symptoms
The secondary display gives no video when you connect through the primary display
You may experience the following issue with your P2422HE monitor. There is a video issue when you connect a second display through your monitors DisplayPort (DP) port. There is no video seen on the second monitor when you connect through your primary monitor under the following circumstances:
- You use a DP to High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable.
- You plug the DP connector to the primary monitor and plug the HDMI connector to the second monitor.
- You enable the DP Multi-Stream Transport (MST). (This is what allows Daisy Chaining.)
Cause
The DP devices plug status indicates what the ports connection status over the DP source (TX) is.
The plug status of the other devices indicates the type of connection and the status of the connection when you populate those ports. (HDMI, Digital Visual Interface (DVI), and Video Graphics Array (VGA).)
The plug status of the other devices reports 0, which is not correct. Dells Engineering team updated the scaler firmware (FW) to modify its behavior.
Resolution
The latest scaler firmware resolves this problem.
