Linux package names

PowerFlex Linux installation packages have several name formats.

Package formats

Throughout this section, Linux packages are displayed in the following format:

EMC-ScaleIO-<component>-3.6-X.<build>.<flavor>.x86_64.rpm

where:

  • <component> is the PowerFlex component: MDM, LIA, SDS, SDR, and so on.
  • <flavor> is the operating system for your environment, according to the following table:

RHEL/OL/CentOS el<version> EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-X.<build>.el<version>.x86_64.rpm

Example: EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-<build>.X.el6.x86_64.rpm

SUSE sles<version> EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-X.<build>.sles<version>.x86_64.rpm

Example: EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-<build>.X.sles12.2.x86_64.rpm

Ubuntu Ubuntu.<version> EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-X.<build>.Ubuntu.<version>.x86_64.tar

Example: EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-X.<build>.Ubuntu.16.04.x86_64.tar

Ubuntu packages may need to be extracted before use. This is described where relevant.

Citrix Hypervisor (XenServer) xs<version> EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-X.<build>.xs<version>.x86_64.rpm

Example: EMC-ScaleIO-mdm-3.6-X.<build>.xs7.0.0.x86_64.rpm

NOTE: RedHat CoreOS and Fedora CoreOS are supported on CSI containers. Refer to CSI documentation for more information.

Use the packages and the installation commands that match your Linux operating system environment.

On Citrix Hypervisor (XenServer)-based nodes, the syntax for PowerFlex CLI commands is siocli, instead of scli.

NOTE: Before deploying or upgrading Oracle Linux (OL) or Ubuntu-based systems, ensure that the PowerFlex environment is prepared, as described in the preparation tasks for Oracle Linux, SLES and Ubuntu in the Deploy Dell PowerFlex .
