Log in and upload installation packages

Log in to the PowerFlex Installer and upload the PowerFlex installation packages.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have network access to the software packages that you downloaded and extracted as part of the preparation tasks.

Ensure that you know the password that was defined for the PowerFlex Gateway.

Steps

  1. Log in to the PowerFlex Installer:
    1. Point your browser to this URL: https://<GW_Server_IP>
      where <GW_Server_IP> is the IP address of the server where you installed the PowerFlex Gateway package.
    2. Accept the certificate warning; alternatively, install your own certificate for the Tomcat server.
    3. Enter the default user name, admin, and the password defined when the PowerFlex Gateway was prepared, and then click Login.
  2. Upload installation packages:
    1. At the top of the Welcome window, click Packages.
      You may need to re-authenticate.
    2. From the Manage Installation Packages page, click Browse, and browse to the extracted PowerFlex component packages. Select all the required files, and then click Open.

      Select these packages for each operating system type that will be used in your PowerFlex system:

      • MDM
      • SDS
      • SDC
      • LIA
      • RFcache XCACHE package (optional; required for Medium Granularity Storage Pool acceleration)
      • VASAPROVIDER package (optional; required for VMware vVols)
      • SDR (optional; required for the replication feature)
    3. Click Upload.

      The uploaded installation packages appear in the packages table.

    4. Click Proceed to Install.

Results

The PowerFlex software packages have been uploaded to the PowerFlex Installer, in preparation for deployment. In the next task, you will use the PowerFlex Installer to install the software on the nodes.
