Configuring a Host Name

The host name appears in the prompt. The default host name is Dell.

  • Host names must start with a letter and end with a letter or digit.
  • Characters within the string can be letters, digits, and hyphens.

To create a host name, use the following command.

Create a host name. CONFIGURATION mode hostname name

Example of the hostname Command 

Dell(conf)#hostname R1
                                 R1(conf)#
