Configure twinning

Perform the following steps to configure twinning:

To configure twinning:
  1. Under NMC Protection tab:
    • Create a remote Client.
    • Create Twin Group.
    • Create Twin Policy: TwinPolicy1.
  2. Under NMC Media tab:
    • Create Twin1 pool, with Pool type: Backup, and Label template: Data Domain Default.
      • On the Selection Criteria, Media type required: Data Domain.
    • Create Twin2 pool, with Pool type: Backup Clone, Label template: Data Domain Default Clone.
      • On the Selection Criteria, Media type required: Data Domain.
  3. Under NMC Devices tab:
    • Review Data Domain documentation.
    • Create first new Data domain using New Device Wizard, with Pool type: Backup. Use an existing pool: Twin1.
    • Create second new Data domain using New Device Wizard, with Pool type: Backup Clone. Use an existing pool: Twin2.
  4. Perform manual backup into two DD devices using the save command save -p twin1,twin2 "/DATA".
    1. Verify the backup using mminfo -avot command.
      This step should clarify whether the two DD devices you created was set properly, and the backup should perform as expected.
  5. Under NMC Devices tab, label the two devices that are created on step 3.
  6. Under NMC Protection tab, create Workflow: TwinWorkflow.
  7. Create Workflow Action using the below nsrpolicy command:
    nsrpolicy action create backup traditional -o Twin1 -a Twin2 -n Yes -p TwinPolicy1 -w TwinWorkflow -A backup
  8. Start the backup under the TwinWorkflow.
  9. Reconfigure the property within Policy or Workflow in NMC after its action is created using the nsrpolicy command.
