Dell NetWorker 19.9 Administration Guide

nsrclientserverlist

The command line tool nsrclientserverlist is a utility that is used to invoke Create or Update, Read, and Delete operations in the servers file of a NetWorker client by restricting the authorization to do backup, and recover operations. It is packaged with the NetWorker server.

nsrclientserverlist program accesses the NetWorker client's servers file contents that reside in <Installation directory>/nsr/res/servers. This utility provides the ability to create or update, read, and delete the contents of the servers file. It also updates the servers list attribute in client resource accordingly.

If the servers file is empty, any administrator can perform backup and recover operations.

This utility must be performed from the NetWorker server, else it fails.
NOTE: It is applicable only for active clients and it excludes the non-active (retired, decommissioned, migrated, and scanned) and NDMP clients.

Recommendations

  1. When a client is added to two NetWorker servers, and one of the servers uses nsrclientserverlist utility to update its hostname, the other server cannot perform any functions with the client. Ensure the servers file of NetWorker client is updated with all the NetWorker servers.
  2. The servers file is empty by default, so any administrator can do backup and recover operations.
  3. If the servers file has more than one server hostname entry, then Server Initiated backup and NMC recover will work only if that server hostname is present in the servers file. However, CLI recover will work.
  4. It is recommended not to update the servers file of a NetWorker server or NetWorker storage node.

For more information about the nsrclientserverlist command usage, see the NetWorker Command Reference Guide.
