Migrate a Volume to Another Storage Center

Migrate a volume to another Storage Center to move data in a volume from one Storage Center to another.

Prerequisites

The Replication Requirements must be met.

Steps

  1. Create a snapshot for the volume you want to migrate.
    For more information on creating a snapshot, see Manually Create a Snapshot for a Volume.
  2. Create a view volume from the snapshot.
    For more information on creating a view volume from a snapshot, see Create a Local Recovery Volume from a Snapshot.
  3. Use Replicate One Time Copy to migrate the view volume to the destination Storage Center.
    1. From the navigation pane, select the view volume.
    2. Click Replicate One Time Copy of Volume.
      The Create Replication wizard appears.
    3. Select a destination Storage Center.
    4. Click Next.
    5. Modify the replication options as needed.
      For more information on creating a replication, see Create a Single Replication.
    6. Click Finish.
  4. Shut down the servers mapped to the source volume.
  5. Unmap servers mapped to the source volume.
  6. Use Replicate One Time Copy to migrate the view volume to the destination Storage Center.
    1. From the navigation pane, select the source volume.
    2. Click Replicate One Time Copy of Volume.
      The Create Replication wizard appears.
    3. Select the destination Storage Center.
    4. Click Next.
    5. Modify the replication options as needed.
      For more information on creating a replication, see Create a Single Replication.
    6. Select the Use an Existing Volume check box.
      A confirmation dialog box appears.
    7. Click Yes
      The Select Volume dialog box appears.
    8. Select the volume created in step 3.
    9. Click OK.
    10. Click Finish.
