Receive Email Notifications for Available Updates

Dell Storage Manager can send an email to notify you when a FluidFS service pack update is available. Dell Storage Manager sends only one alert email for every 24 hour period.

1. Configure the SMTP settings for the Data Collector.
   1. In the top pane of the Dell Storage Manager Client, click Edit Data Collector Settings. The Edit Data Collector Settings dialog box appears.
   2. Click the SMTP Server tab.
   3. In the From Email Address field, enter the email address to display as the sender of emails from the Data Collector.
   4. In the Host or IP Address field, enter the host name or IP address of the SMTP server.
   5. If the port number of the SMTP server is not 25, enter the correct port number in the Port field.
   6. If the SMTP server requires authentication, select the Authentication check box, then enter the username and password in the SMTP User Name and SMTP User Password fields.
   7. Click OK.
2. Configure an email address for your Dell Storage Manager user account.
   1. In the top pane of the Dell Storage Manager Client, click Edit User Settings. The General tab of the Edit User Settings dialog box appears.
   2. Enter the email address of the current user in the Email Address field.
   3. Select the format for emails to the current user from the Email Format drop-down menu.
   4. To send a test message to the email address, click Test Email and click OK.
   5. Verify that the test message is sent to the specified email address.
   6. Click OK.
3. Configure email notifications to receive email notifications for available FluidFS service pack upgrades.
   1. In the top pane of the Dell Storage Manager Client, click Edit User Settings. The Edit User Settings dialog box appears.
   2. Click the Manage Events tab.
   3. Select the checkbox for the event.
   4. Click OK.
