Dell Storage Manager 2020 R1 Administrator's Guide

View a Data Progression Pressure Report

For each storage type, the data progression pressure report displays how space is allocated, consumed, and scheduled to move across different RAID types and storage tiers. Use the data progression pressure report to make decisions about the types of disks to add to a Storage Center.

Steps

  1. If the Dell Storage Manager Client is connected to a Data Collector, select a Storage Center from the Storage view.
  2. Click the Storage tab.
  3. In the Storage tab navigation pane, expand Storage Type, then select the individual storage type that you want to examine.
  4. Click the Pressure Report subtab to view the data progression pressure report. By default, the most recent data gathered from the Storage Center is displayed.
  5. To view a previously generated data progression report, select a report from the drop-down menu. Reports are identified by the date and time at which they were generated.

The data progression Pressure Report tab displays the following information for each RAID level:

Description of columns in the pressure report.
    Pressure Report Column Description
RAID Level RAID level in the storage tier.
Disk Track Type of track, which may be Fast or Standard.
Chart Bar charts that display allocated disk space and used disk space.
Disk Allocated Amount of raw disk space allocated.
Disk Used Amount of raw disk space consumed.
Pressure Up Amount of data scheduled to move to a faster storage tier during the next Data Progression cycle. Indicated by a green bar and up arrow in the bar chart.
Pressure Down Amount of data scheduled to move to a slower storage tier during the next Data Progression cycle. Indicated by an orange bar and a down arrow in the bar chart.
Volume Allocated Amount of usable space for volumes after RAID is applied.
Volume Used Amount of volume allocated space that is consumed.
Saved vs RAID 10 Amount of space saved by moving less-accessed data to RAID 5 or RAID 6 instead of using RAID 10 for all data.
